I don't wan't to play

I have no more energy

left for this grief

It is an all consuming

new pastime of mine

an unwanted hobby

with nothing to show at the end of the day

'cept a tear stained face and a broken heart

I don't want to play

I didn't ask to be invited

to this never ending

hurtfilled journey

where peace seems to tease me

round every corner

then disappears into the ethers

with no promise of returning

I don't want to play

I find the pain steals my sanity

robs me of the time of day

the time of man

I swirl in a twisted dance

where rhythm has no place

notes contort and shrew

and an orchestra of sadness

play concertos of utter

silence

I don't wanna play

I don't wanna play

Take your grief game away
