UNCHANGED REMAIN

Gently I was told

be gentle with yourself

this hurt is 'big'

do only what you can do

I ventured out carefully

not as strong as I used to be

I tested the water

by watching your faces

your expressions

'how do you want me to be ?'

Dont seek refuge in your own hurt

Face what is seen by you

in our faces

Our faces mirror your deepest fears

Is that why you can't 'face us' ?

We are scarred

We are no longer the same

We walk a different road to you

but we need to walk with you,

alongside of you

with you holding our hands

We the unseen

who suddenly are seen

we, whose son knew yours

are now united in some

kind of mismatched union

We have died

we are never the same

we love as we never have

and yet unchanged ........ remain
